Brands Can Now Pay for a Repin on Pinterest

"CONNECTING ADVERTISERS WITH PINTEREST USERS - Pinbooster is a platform to help Pinners monetize their following, and advertisers of all sizes to reach millions of engaged users." - http://www.pinbooster.com

With Pinbooster, brands are able to pay people to make repins for them.

Just opened to the public, Pinbooster is within the next wave of tools to facilitate brands and their marketing efforts now on the third largest social referral platform.

Back in May, Shopify released their study of how influential referrals from Pinterest could be valuable for e-commerce (see our post at http://tmblr.co/Z7yWKyOUucS1)

With Pinbooster, brands can choose from a number of demographics to make an offer to someone they feel will enhance their efforts through repinning. Some users will make more money depending on how well they meet the criteria.

So what do you think about this addition to the Pinterest “toolset”?

Online Life in Pictures - the Rise of Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr

A recent Study by Pew Internet reveals some interesting statistics about how we use photos and videos as “social currency” online.

In a phone survey of 1,005 adults ages 18 and older between August 2-5, 2012 the Pew Internet Project found that:

  • 12% of online adults say they use Pinterest, which is dominated by women. Nearly a fifth of online women (19%) use Pinterest
  • 12% of online adults say they use Instagram, which is dominated by young adults. Some 27% of the internet users between ages 18-29 use Instagram
  • 5% of online adults say they use Tumblr. Some 11% of young adults use this social blogging service that allows for easy sharing of various types of posts, including text, photos, quotes, links, music, and video.

This survey also found that:

  • 66% of online adults use Facebook
  • 20% use LinkedIn
  • 16% use Twitter
